SAIPAN International School 2  is the top team in bracket 2 of the PSS-NMBA Interscholastic Badminton League’s co-ed middle school division after notching eight victories at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Saturday.

SIS 2 faced Chacha Ocean View Middle School and Hopwood Middle School 1 in separate matches.

SIS 2’s most dominant performance was seen against COVMS, sweeping all five events — the boys and girls singles and doubles as well as the mixed doubles — to earn five points.

Hopwood Middle School 1 proved to be a tougher opponent for SIS 2.

But the boys of SIS 2 still reigned supreme, winning the boys singles and doubles events as well as the mixed doubles.

However, the girls of HMS 1 were unmatched as they claimed the girls singles and doubles events.

Although the SIS 2 was denied another sweep, they earned three points to secure the top spot in bracket 2 with eight points overall.

SIS 2’s roster consists of Olivia Zhang, Jamie Whang, Jewel Whang, Selina Santiago, Jiayi Li, Michael Guintu, James Xiong, Noah Santos, Eric Pi, and Wilson Guo.

In overall second place is Grace Christian Academy 1 with six points.

GCA 1 swept COVMS in all five events but could only earn a point against Agape Christian School 1 in the mixed doubles event.

Agape Christian School 1 is in third place with four points, which they secured in their match against GCA 1.

HMS 1 is in fourth place with two points while COVMS is in fifth with zero.

The rest of the day 1 results will be featured in the next edition of Variety.
